Crude Oil
Crude oil is the term for "unprocessed" oil, the stuff that comes out of the ground. It is also known as petroleum.
The petroleum industry classifies "crude" by the location of its origin thus we have REBCO from Russia, BLCO from Nigeria, SLCO from Saudi Arabia etc.
Refiners refer to crude as "sweet," which means it contains relatively little sulfur, or as "sour," which means it contains substantial amounts of sulfur and requires more refining in order to meet current product specifications.
Light, sweet crude oils are preferred by refiners because of their low sulfur content and relatively high yields of high-value products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, and jet fuel.
At Gomak Inc. directly or through our affiliates, we buy and sell crude oil of different specifications all over the world.
Crude oil is a fossil fuel, meaning that it was made naturally from decaying plants and animals living in ancient seas millions of years ago -- most places you can find crude oil were once sea beds.
It varies in color, from clear to tar-black, and in viscosity, from water to almost solid but It is usually black or dark brown (although it may be yellowish or even greenish). in the reservoir
It is also the raw material for many chemical products, including pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides, and plastics; the 16% not used for energy production is converted into other materials.
Considering the vast number of products that are derived from crude oil, it is a very multipurpose substance and life as we know it today would be extremely difficult without crude oil and its by-products.
